Tum Ho Toh - the emotional finale of Rock On!

Farhan Akhtar has always carried the young and trendy tag with directorial ventures like Dil Chahta hai and Lakshya behind him. Farhan, the actor, became an instant hit with Rock On! But to call Rock On a Farhan Akhtar film would be a misnomer. It was a tribute to the spirit of Rock music, of which Farhan himself is a dilettante. The tale of musicians of a rock band, who after a series of successes succumb to a clash of egos, only to come together years later and carry on with the legacy of MAGIC – the rock band, touched the right chords. Shanker-Ehsaan-Loy’s music became a runaway success. The final song Tum ho Toh was the icing on the cake, bringing out the latent emotions of friendship, love and loneliness. Here are the guitar chords of the song.

Yeh shaam Mastani - romance, melancholy and music

Aradhana was two years old and Shakti Samanta teamed up yet again with Rajesh Khanna for the 1971 blockbuster Kati Patang. The songs of Aradhana had established Kishore Kumar as the irreplacable voice of Rajesh Khanna. But there was a new team in the making. R.D.Burman made an entry into this Shakti-Rajesh-Kishore team, replacing his father S.D.Burman, whose runaway hits made Aradhana a musical blockbuster and brought Kishore Kumar permanently into limelight.
The song Yeh shaam mastani carries many emotions at the same time – the melancholic, the romantic, the energetic, besides being very poetic. Each and every part of the song became a permanent part of a music lover's memory - be it the prelude, the interludes, the yoodles or whistles. As a high-spirited Rajesh Khanna seranades a not-so-high-spirited Asha Parekh, many hearts swooned over and over again. Even today, sitting in a calm, cool breezy evening evokes only one line in our minds – Yeh shaam mastani.....

Allah Ke Bande - the Kailash magic

In one of his interviews, Kailash Kher had once said “When I was a child, these travelling saints used to come to my house in Meerut, I would sit with them and observe them. I never understood what they talked about but I absorbed what they were saying and their vibrations affected my growth in a very positive way”. Perhaps these positive vibrations took complete manifestation in the song that catapulted Kailash Kher into the higher notches of stardom. The movie Waisa Bhi Hota Hai was a complete dud. But what remained forever since was the song Allah Ke Bande.... Kaliash never had to turn back ever since. A failed businessman and a one-time singer of Dermicool jingles became a sensation. The song, steeped in Sufism evokes mixed feelings of hope and mysticism in us. Here are the guitar tabs for the song.

Teri Deewani - an amazing work by Kailash Kher

The year was 2006 and Kailash Kher had become a big name by then. His album Kailasa hit the stands and soon its songs became chartbusters. Secret for his heartthrob voice is that while singing he is in trance with the God. Kailasa consists of tracks like 'Teri Dewaani', which is intense and completely immersed in love. Kailash says "Some people don't have faith in God but believe in love and everyone has a different definition of God so I don't want to define my songs but you will be able to understand what I wanted to communicate with the emotions with which I have sung. Kailasa means Heaven and is also the name of Kailash's band. Kailash Kher says about his album "meri album prem ki neeti sikhati hai ("My album will make you feel the essence of love"). I love my title track 'Teri Deewani' which I have composed with heart and soul." The immense popularity of this song and its popularity with guitarists and music lovers has led me to bring out a post on its guitar tabs. So here it is:
